Busy busy busy...

I haven't posted for ages...been busy with Joanna's birthday party, then getting ready for our snow holiday (post to come) and Joanna's actual birthday. Now trying to recover and tidy up from birthday stuff and snow holiday before I have to start packing next week for our trip to Brisbane.

I saw the photos of Joanna's party. It looks like you put in a lot of effort. I look forward to you giving all the details of your planning.

The spinning wheels looked great. How did you make them? What are the sticks? I have been meaning to ask as E's party is on Sunday and I thgought I could try them if they are relatively quick.

Here's the site I used:
http://www.stylemepretty.com/2009/12/22/diy-pinwheels/

I glued 2 pieces of scrapbooking paper back to back with spray adhesive for the paper. And then made the template small enough so I could cut the 6 fins out of one sheet.

Instead of 'grommets' I just used double sided tape to stick the layers together.

And instead of the 'pegs' I used a nail (I hammered a larger/thicker size nail through first to make the hole, then used a small nail for the actual 'peg').

The sticks are bamboo stakes that I used to use in the garden, cut up into 30-40cm lengths.

Other hint is to thread a small length of drinking straw (approx 2cm, but that depends on the length of your nail)onto the nail before hammering it into the stick to hold the fins away from the stick so it spins smoothly and without to much breath/wind.
